Ex-mufti was summoned to police for bigamy in Kyrgyzstan

Almaty. December 5. Silkroadnews - Ex-Mufti Chubak Zhalilov offered explanation on his personal life to the Bishkek Main Department of Internal Affairs, the Kyrgyz Telegraph Agency (KyrTAG) reports.
“Chubak Zhalilov has been summoned to the Bishkek city police department to give comments on his statements on being married for the second time without divorcing his first wife,” the report said.
During the conversation Zhalilov said that “the woman he is talking about is his beloved one, though they have not registered official marriage or a civil union.” The only woman with whom he has his children is his official wife. Never in his statements he did not call for violation of the existing laws of the Kyrgyz Republic, Zhalilov said.
“The investigation work is still underway, based on the results of the inspection, additional information will be provided,” the Main Department of Internal Affairs reports.
To remind, the ex-mufti of the Kyrgyz Republic Ch. Zhalilov released a video, in which he honestly said he had married with the second wife, a widow, and will take care of her, despite the fact that he has a wife, with marriage registered in the legitimate order. He also addressed to men calling them not to be afraid to take responsibility for a second wife and calling women not to be afraid to become a second wife. The public of Kyrgyzstan, including the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, condemned Zhalilov’s position and demanded to hold him liable for bigamy banned by the Criminal Code and the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic.
