Experts call to spur the Caspian environmental program
Almaty. March 17. Silkroadnews – The experts taking part at the regional seminar “Caspian Sea – a sustainable development and management” called to boost the Caspian environmental program, Trend reports.
“The seminar emphasized the expediency of boosting the Caspian environmental program, that in due course time have united the efforts of Turkmenistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Iran, as well as the credible international partner organizations, including the global environmental fund, the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Environment Program and the World Bank”, the publication says.
During the meeting the participants also considered the issues of marine ecosystems, impact of climate change on the marine environment, marine biodiversity, modern methods for assessing the impact of human economic activity on the environment, marine spatial planning.
Also the reviews of international legal norms applied in exploration and exploitation of oil and gas resources and regulation of navigation to protect the marine environment and fish stocks of the Caspian Sea were presented in the course of the meeting.
Among the participants there were specialists from ministries and departments of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan, as well as international experts, the scientific consultants working in the field of maritime economics, politics, management, ecology, maritime law and other disciplines.
