Almaty. June 22. Silkroadnews – There is no information security policy in Kyrgyzstan, head of “Information Security Center” LLC Roman Kononov notes.

“Our situation with information security is very poor. The government agencies have no people to work with information security, and, as a whole, a very small budget is allocated to ensure information security. There is also no common policy, no standards, weak legislation in this area. Plus, there is no regulatory body to control and punish the agencies in case they have problems with security. That’s why we have such a result. This whole process shall be supported and be in tune with the times,” R. Kononov said to KyrTAG.

According to him, recent hacking attack on the site of the State Committee for Defence Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic is not a great threat, yet the due measures on this issue shall be taken.

“It is not a purposeful attack, it is an automated software searching for vulnerable websites and replacing the main page with its information. It can frighten the ordinary users and owners of the sites. But it is not that frightful. And we shall separate the purposeful and the automated attacks. Basically, the purposeful attacks are not seen, they are well disguised and aimed to get a special information or replace it,” the expert said.

According to R.Kononov, to prevent such situations it is necessary to develop information security policy that Kyrgyzstan, unfortunately, does not have so far.

Earlier KyrTAG reported on the hacking of the official website of the State Committee on Defense Affairs. With the page opening users could read a message from the hacker instead of site content.
