Almaty. January 20. Silkroadnews – Failure to pay child support in Kyrgyzstan will be punished with deprivation of driving license and prohibition to depart from the country. The draft law has passed through the third reading with a majority of votes of the Jogorku Kenesh, KyrTAG informs.

“There are some individuals today refusing to pay child support; earlier for the most part these were men, though the number of women doing this is growing as well”, the author of the draft law Maksat Sabirov said.

The law contains the rules saying those who do not want to help their children will be deprived of their driving licenses and prohibited to leave the country.

“My proposal is also to write into the rules saying those reneging on their alimony payment to be refused in getting credits or loans from the financial institutions”, he added.

The deputy added that the judicial department will post information about the citizens not paying child support on their official website.

The draft law also introduces a new provision stating that parents who live apart from their children will be obliged to pay their children studying at higher education institutions until the child reaches 21 years of age.
