As the Tibet Daily reported in its account in its official WeChat account, the fire broke out at 6:40 p.m. Saturday night, covering part of the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region in Southwest China. NO casualties have been reported.
Located in the center of old Lhasa, Jokhang is one of the most famous temples for Tibetan Buddhism. It has more than 1300-year history and houses many cultural treasures, including a life-sized statue of Sakyamuni when he was 12 years old.
