First stage of Rogun HPP to be launched on time: President of Tajikistan
Beijing. Jul 27. Silkroadnews - Tajik President Emomali Rahmon ordered to take all measures to start the first stage of the Rogun hydroelectric power station on the scheduled date - this autumn, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Friday.
The head of the state gave this order at a working meeting with the top managers of the Rogun hydropower station and Rogun city representatives, when assigned to take measures to develop a plan for the scheduled commissioning of the first stage of the Rogun hydroelectric power station, the president’s press service informed.
The president also paid attention to the importance of high-quality execution of the installation works at the facility.
To remind, the Rogun hydropower plant, the ninth hydroelectric power station in the cascade on the Vakhsh River, is located 110 kilometers from Dushanbe.
According to the project, the hydropower plant consists of 6 units, each with a capacity of 600 MW.
The height of the station’s stone-dam will be 335 meters, which is the highest in the world (in its type). The Rogun HPP, with a production capacity of 3,600 MW (more than 17 billion kW/h) of electricity, is considered to be the largest in the region.
