Food handlers in media village in Pyeongchang were infected with norovirus

Beijing. February 9. Silkroadnews - Food handlers in media village at Pyeongchang Winter Olympics 2018 were infected with norovirus, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
Norovirus infection outbreak has been registered in Pyeongchang. As of February 7, 86 people were injured, 63 of them got infected in the youth center of the Olympics. Patients with norovirus infection were identified among the staff of food centers in the media village, which could lead to infection spread. The Korean authorities are carrying out a set of measures, including laboratory examination of the food units and trade objects staff, as well as tests of food and water, the organizing committee of the Games reported.

To remind, on February 6, it became known that more than 1.2 thousand employees of a private organization working in protection of law and order at the Olympic Games in 2018, suffered from intestinal infection. 41 people suffered symptoms of acute diarrhea. They were taken to the hospital and diagnosed with norovirus. All 1,2 thousand guardsmen were replaced by 900 soldiers.
The XXIII Olympic Winter Games will be started in South Korea and last until February 25. Over 2.9 thousand athletes and officials from more than 95 countries of the world are expected to take part in the games.
