Foreign Minister of China hopes relations between China and EU to be as strong as they have started it

Silkroadnews - China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed hope that at the end of this year relations between China and the EU will remain as they have started it, as 2018 marks the 15th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the EU, People’s Daily Online reports.
Global governance has emerged as a new dimension of China-EU cooperation, the two sides have a joint responsibility to safeguard the global free trade system, and negotiation needs to be speeded up to conclude a China-EU investment agreement, the agency quoted him saying.
He also stressed, there are some disagreements between China and the EU, yet both sides realized the need to put oneself in the other’s shoes and to be more open, tolerant and understanding of each other, the report reads.
China has always appreciated the importance of Europe, the minister said, noting that it supports European integration and is confident in the future of Europe.
““Given all the uncertainty around us, China is ready to partner with Europe to provide more stability and make the world a better place,” the minister added.
According to the agency, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Germany strongly supports the Belt and Road initiative, while France’s President Macron noted that France would like to take an active part in the initiative.
