Almaty. May 16. Silkroadnews – Four ancient cities of Kazakhstan are planned to be included into the UNESCO’s World Heritage list, the website of the prime minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

“Now our challenge is to add to the list the Great Silk Road continuation. Thus, the Syrdarya part of the Great Silk Road and settlements Syganak, Otyrar, Sauran, Sarayshyk could be included into the list. We can submit our proposal at the UNESCO meeting in the nearest future,” minister of culture and sport Arystanbek Mukhamediuly said at the meeting of the National Commission for UNESCO and ISESCO.

According to him, this move will help to get the UNESCO support to carry out the restoration of the cities.

The minister also noted there is the special center of rapprochement of cultures under the auspices of UNESCO operating in Kazakhstan and headed by academician and archaeologist Karl Baipakov.

“I am sure this center will help us to facilitate significantly our cooperation not only with UNESCO, but also with other large cultural centers of the world,” he concluded.
