Four Chinese cities were selected to join UNESCO Creative Cities Network
Almaty. November 3. Silkroadnews - Four Chinese cities have been selected to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, China Plus newspaper reported.
“Four Chinese cities have been selected to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN). Created in 2004, the UCCN covers seven creative fields, namely Crafts&Folk Art, Design, Film, Gastronomy, Literature, Music and Media Arts,” the report said.
It is noted that the city of Changsha (media art), the Macao Special Administrative Region (gastronomy), Qingdao (film) and Wuhan (design) are proposed to be included in the UCCN network, consisting of 64 cities representing 44 countries and regions.
Qingdao is the first city in China that can be called a “City of Film”, one of 13 cities in the world where international film festivals are held.
Changsha was proposed to be added to the network as a “City of Media Arts”. This is the only Asian city to apply to become a “City of Media Arts”.
Wuhan was nominated for inclusion in the group “City of Design” after 8 years of work on its own project “rebirth of the city”, which faced serious problems in terms of economic efficiency, environmental protection and protection of cultural heritage.
Macao was suggested to be added to the UCCN as a “City of Gastronomy”, which would give one of the special economic regions another distinctive feature.
