Beijing. February 2. Silkroadnews - Four Chinese stations for nuclear activity monitoring has been certified by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
“Four China-hosted nuclear activity monitoring stations were presented with certificates by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Tuesday in Guangzhou, south China.
They include two radionuclide stations in Guangzhou and Beijing, and two primary seismic stations in Hailar and Lanzhou,” the report said.
As a result, the total number of such facilities in China has been brought to five, nearly a half of the 11 planned stations in the country.
In December 2016, the radionuclide monitoring station in Lanzhou in northwestern China was certified by the CTBTO.
The CTBTO works under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), a multilateral treaty banning all nuclear explosions under all conditions. One of its main tasks is to create an International Monitoring System, which consists of more than 300 stations around the world, to monitor potential nuclear tests. Five stations in China are a part of the system.
