France’s State Secretary visits Uzbekistan

Almaty. July 20. Silkroadnews – Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, will visit Uzbekistan on July 20 and 21, Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports.

“The Minister will take part in the sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The sides will discuss bilateral trade and economic relations issues, as well as financial cooperation prospects between France and Uzbekistan. They will also consider prospects of development in the field of agriculture and food industry, transport, energy, industry and tourism,” press service of the Embassy of France in Uzbekistan informed.

The meeting is expected to be followed by a ceremony of signing bilateral documents: the agreement on the establishment and activities of the French Development Agency (AFD), technical agreements and memoranda of understanding for projects to be carried out by French companies.

A business forum will be organized in the afternoon. “B2B” meetings are also scheduled for delegations of companies’ representatives.

The State Secretary’s agenda also includes meeting with officials of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Finance, and visit to Samarkand to meet with municipal authorities of Samarkand region and the city of Samarkand, as well as to participate in the presentation of the first AFD project in Uzbekistan on municipal solid waste processing.
