Free trade zone to be opened on the Tajik-Chinese border

Almaty. July 11. Silkroadnews – Free trade zone to be opened on the Tajik-Chinese border, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports.

“The free trade zone will begin operations on both sides of the “Kulma” border-crossing checkpoint in the near future,” Khudoberdi Kholiqnazar, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, said at the press-conference on Monday.

He added, China has already built a terminal on their side territory and the similar terminal will be built on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Murghab district.

According to information released, “with creation of the free trade zone on the Tajik-Chinese border Tajik entrepreneurs will do not need any more to travel to the Chinese cities of Kashgar and Urumqi for goods. They will be able to purchase all necessary goods at the terminal. Besides, the terminal will be provided with electronic trade system”.

It is  reported such a system will allow entrepreneurs to order any goods through Internet, with the Chinese side organizing prompt delivery of the goods in case to its side of the terminal.

“With creation of this cross-border trade zone the Tajik entrepreneurs will have no need to travel long distances to purchase the products they are interested in,” said K. Kholiqnazar.
