Greece’s journalists’ union announced a two-day strike

Almaty. October 24. Silkroadnews - Greece’s journalists’ union announced a two-day strike supported by the country’s mass media, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports referring to the Russian media.
“The strike to begin today at 6 p.m. local time and will end at the same time on Thursday, October 26. The statement on the strike is signed by the leaders of journalistic unions, unions of journalists of daily Athenian newspapers and periodical electronic press,” the report said on Tuesday.
The statement by the journalists’ unions, the strike was declared “to protect the single journalistic organization EDOEAP” providing social security and welfare payments for journalists and media workers in Greece.
Among the requirements is to retain system of additional social insurance, observe labor and social rights of media employees and freedom of the press.
The strike suspends TV and radio news broadcasting, the most of the news sites will stop operating as well.
This is the third strike of Greek journalists in a month.
