Half a million people were affected by floods in northeast China

Almaty. July 21. Silkroadnews – Half a million people were affected by floods in the northeast of China, KazTAG reports.
China’s authorities have evacuated over 226 thousand people from the north-eastern province of Jilin; preliminary data show nearly 513 thousand people were affected by the disaster.
Heavy rains that continued for several days caused raising water level in the local reservoirs, dozens of settlements and almost 130 thousand hectares of agricultural land in 10 provinces of the province have been flooded with 19.3 thousand houses destroyed and many roads washed out.
The direct economic damage has been already estimated to exceeded 12.5 billion yuan ($1.8 billion).
