Hasan Rouhani voted in the presidential elections in Iran
Almaty. May 19. Silkroadnews – On Friday Iranian President Hassan Rouhani voted at a polling station in Tehran, Trend reports.
“People’s active participation in elections strengthens Iran’s national security”, Rouhani said.
He dropped the ballots into a ballot box at one of the capital’s polling stations.
To remind, Iran carries out 12th presidential elections and 5th elections to the city and village councils. On Friday morning 66.5 thousand polling stations opened throughout Iran for more than 56 million people to be able to vote.
According to the Interior Ministry’s electoral headquarters, more than 56 million Iranians have the right to vote in the 12th presidential election in Iran. The total number of voters includes more than 1.3 million people who vote for the first time.
There are four candidates for the post of the state’s head: president in office Hassan Rouhani, Grand Imam of Imam Reza shrine Ebrahim Raisi, and two former government members – ex-minister of culture and Islamic orientation Mostafa Agha Mirsalim and ex-minister of industry Mostafa Hashemitaba.
