Houses in nine villages of Tajikistan got destroyed due to the mudflow

Almaty. August 17. Silkroadnews – Nine settlements of Tajikistan have been damaged due to the floods in the city of Isfara and the surrounding area, TajikTA reported.

«Last night the city of Isfara (the administrative center of Isfara district of Sughd province of Tajikistan) suffered a mudslide lasting about one and a half hours. As a result, the residents of microdistricts 13,14 and 15, the town of Shurob, mahallas Somonien, Afgonho, villages of Navobod, Jazeera and Matpari got harmed», reported the press secretariat of the city administration.

The flood destroyed the houses of local residents, the infrastructure got damaged as well. As a result, the vehicular traffic on the main road of Isfara got stopped for few times. The power lines and several transformers got damaged.
The cause of disaster was a sharp increase in water level in the river Isfara. The volume of water at the flood reached 15 cubic meters per second.

Currently the special commission headed by the chairman of the city Dilshod Rasulzoda is working at the site.
