Identified investors of Tajik section CASA-1000 project

Almaty. January 22. Silkroadnews - Identified the funding sources for the implementation of the Tajik section of CASA-1000 project, reports the Tajik news agency (TajikTA).
Thus, according to the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzody, defined  international financial institutions that agree to invest the Tajik part of the project, it remains to sign the relevant agreements with them.
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Islamic Development Bank and the Kuwaiti Fund of Tajikistan are willing to provide the necessary funds.
"In the coming days in Dushanbe will be held meeting with representatives of the EBRD, which will  discuss the provision by financial institution $65 million for the implementation of the Tajik part of CASA-1000 project. In addition, part of the funds will be allocated by the US and Tajikistan goverment",- said U.Usmonzoda.
He also said that during the first quarter of this year, the question of the financing of the project will be fully resolved.
"During the meeting in Istanbul in December last year, the participating countries agreed to resolve this issue before the beginning of April of this year", - said the Minister.
At the moment, an agreement was signed with the World Bank for the provision of $45 million for the project in Tajikistan.
It is expected that in the first half of this year will be selected the general contractor for the project.
Recall that the CASA-1000 project envisages construction of the line for the supply of electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
