Import of consumer goods in Iran decreased by 3%

Beijing. June 12. Silkroadnews - Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade for Export Mojtaba Khosrotaj said the import of consumer goods fell 3% from March 21 to May 22 year-on-year, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports.
He estimated the total share of imports of consumer goods in the first two months of the current Iranian year at 15.3%, Mehr news agency wrote.
According to Khosrotaj, the share of imports of consumer goods in the first two months of the past Iranian calendar year (March 21 - May 22) made 18%, so that 15.3% for the same period of this year indicates a 3% decline.
During the same period, about 5.263 thousand tonnes of products worth $6.977 billion were imported to the country, which is 2% and 0.5% up compared to the same period of the previous year.
The top five imported products in the same period include knock-down kits (CKDs) for automotive industry, livestock corn, soybean, rice and equipment and machinery parts, the report reads.
These goods were mainly imported from China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), South Korea, Germany and Turkey, he added.
