According to the Financial Tribune, the two high demand currencies in Tehran’s market, namely the US dollar and euro, followed entirely different trends during the week to July 18.
Iranian rial quoted at the level of 37,780 to US$ on Tuesday, which is 150 riyals lower compared to a week ago. However, last week euro experienced an upward trend. On Tuesday the European currency reached 44,090 rials for 1 euro in the market of Tehran, marking an increase of 400 rials in seven days.
Summer vacations and a large number of travels to European countries, which cause a growth of demand for euro, are one of the main reasons for such rise.
On Tuesday, Bahar Azadi gold traded at a price of 11,720,000 ($312.5), registering a drop of 60,000 rials compared to last Tuesday.
