Almaty. September 15. Silkroadnews – The space-air surveillance system to follow-up the probationers will be developed in Kazakhstan starting from 2017, KazTAG writes.

«Due to tough economic situation the project (space-air surveillance over the supervised persons – Silkroadnews) is proposed to be implemented through the public private partnership, with private investor funding the development of the system and the state ensuring the purchase of these systems. The project is now being considered in the Ministry of National Economy, we plan to begin the development of surveillance systems in 2017», Advisor to the Chairman of the Aerospace Committee under the republic's Ministry of Investments and Development Meyrbek Moldabekov said.

According to him, the automated system using satellite navigation allowing to apply electronic bracelets to keep track of probationer's location has already been developed for the space-air surveillance system to follow-up the probationers. Using this system, the relevant agencies will be immediately informed in case the probationer leaves the area allowed.

The developers say the new system will be economically efficient for the state.

«Preliminary estimation shows each prisoner costs the state more than 600 thousand tenge a year, while the new system introduced is expected to make the cost not to exceed 200 thousand tenge a year per one convicted person including the cost of the bracelet, technical operation of the system and operating costs», the adviser added.

In addition, he said, the new surveillance system will allow the convicted persons to serve time in a more comfortable environment while serving the society.
