In Tajikistan, implemented reconstruction projects of water supply in the amount of $ 500 million

Almaty. August 6. Silkroadnews - "The Government of Tajikistan has adopted 15 programs on the restoration of water supply systems in all regions of the country in which are implemented dozens of projects totaling to more than $500 million", - said the speaker of the lower house of the Tajik parliament Shukurjon Zuhurov during a meeting with the UN Special Rapporteur Leo Heller.
The sides discussed the issues of water supply in the Republic in the context of human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation.
It was noted that in 2000 the Government of Tajikistan, along with 191 countries signed the Millennium Declaration. In 2005 Tajikistan prepared a report where one of the main objectives has been identified to improved water and sanitation.
In accordance with this document, in Tajikistan have been performed legal reforms. Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan, along with the current Water Code, adopted the Law "On water user associations" (2006), "On Drinking Water and Water Supply" (2010) and "On Environmental Protection".
