India refused to increase investment in infrastructure of Afghanistan
Almaty. February 16. Silkroadnews - India refused to increase investments in joint infrastructure projects with Iran, serving the transportation of Afghan mineral resources to the Iranian port of Chabahar, reported the Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
This decision was made against the backdrop of Iran's claims to India that it has increased investment in the construction of the highway from the Persian port city of Chabahar to Afghanistan.
Withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan, led to a sharp increase in tensions in Afghanistan anf reduced the attractiveness of New Delhi for further capital investments in infrastructure, reports business portal wadsam.com.
In 2003, Afghanistan, India and Iran signed a tripartite agreement on the construction of the highway from Chabahar to the Afghan border.
Thus, by 2008, India has invested $100 million in the construction of a 200-kilometer Delaram - Zaranzh road - near the Iranian border.
