India will deliver 220 thousand tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan

Almaty. June 24. Silkroadnews – Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan announced that India will provide Afghanistan with 220 thousand tonnes of wheat, according to AfTAG.

According to Lotfullah Rashid, a ministry spokesman, the negotiations have already been held with the Ministry of Transport regarding the delivery of wheat. The grain shall be allocated on the strategic reserves of the nine provinces of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Earlier it was reported that this year’s wheat harvest shall make 88 million tonnes. The maximum export capacity is estimated at 0.5 million tonnes total. Within 2016-2017 India is expected to be the net importer of wheat.
