Investments into Afghanistan dropped by almost a third for 9 months

Almaty. January 8. Silkroadnews - Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) has announced that the investment into the country decreased by 29% for the first 9 months of the current fiscal year and the investments volume continues to fall since 2011, Afghan News Agency (AfTAG) reported.
Mohammad Qurban Haqjo, the head of AISA, reported that $660 million investment came to Afghanistan for the first three quarters of the last year, while only $600 million have been recorded for the same period of 2015.
“The situation in Kabul got improved since last year, while other regions demonstrated quite a disappointing investment state”, said the head of AISA.
According to his statement, the investments in Kabul have increased 10% this year with $249 million for the first three quarters versus $273 million for the last year.
Among the root causes for the low investment level the head of the agency called the instability, withdrawal of foreign forces, incomplete implementation of infrastructure projects and corruption.
He also warned in case the investment environment does not change the Afghan economy shall run into severe difficulties.
