Iran and Brazil expand cooperation in the field of agriculture

Almaty. August 21. Silkroadnews - Iran and Brazil intend to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture, transmits the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Thursday.
This topic was discussed at a meeting between the head of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad Fathi and Brazilian Ambassador to Tehran Irazabalem Santiago Mourao, which was held in the Iranian capital on August 20.
In particular, the parties discussed the preparations for the forthcoming visit of the Minister of Agriculture of Brazil Neri Geller in Iran, which is expected to arrive in the Islamic republic  with delegation on August 24, this year.
"During the visit, the Brazilian delegation, which will consist of 14 people, plans to consider an increase in the export of Iranian agricultural products to Brazil" - said J. Fathi.
He added that the Minister of Agriculture of Brazil will hold talks with his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Hojjati, as well as will meet with representatives of the agricultural sector of the Islamic Republic, and visit a number of sites in order to identify best practices in the industry of Iran.
In turn, the Brazilian diplomat expressed satisfaction with the current state of economic cooperation between the two countries, and voiced the opinion that the withdrawal of Western sanctions against Tehran will give a new impetus to the development of comprehensive cooperation between Brazil and Iran.
"Given Iran's interest in expanding cooperation in various areas, we could concentrate on deepening cooperation between the two countries in areas such as conducting scientific research, development and production of vaccines and drugs for livestock industry and in the field of quality control of agricultural products", - the ambassador added.
It is worth noting that to date, the volume of trade between Iran and Brazil is about $2 billion a year.
