Iran and Pakistan are planning to increase the volume of trade to $ 5 billion a year

Almaty. April 23. Silkroadnews - Tehran and Islamabad confirmed the desire to enhance bilateral trade relations, and soon bring them up to $5 billion a year, the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
These and other issues of bilateral relations were the subject of substantive discussion at the meeting of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Mines of Iran Mohammad Rizo Nematzade Minister of Trade of Pakistan Khurram Dastgir Khan.
In particular, R.Nematzade noted that in recent years between Iran and Pakistan achieved good dynamics of interaction in many areas of bilateral cooperation. However, he said, there is still a large enough untapped trade and economic potential, the active use of which requires more energetic actions and decisions by public authorities and the business circles of both countries.
For his part, Minister of Commerce of Pakistan supported the idea of ​​his colleagues of the need to adjust the bilateral trade to $5 billion a year, and called for further expansion and deepening of trade ties between the neighbors.
In this context, the sides discussed concrete proposals for the construction of new customs posts on the Iran-Pakistan border, projects for the construction and modernization of new and existing infrastructure, such as roads and railways, as well as the possibility of establishing direct flights between major commercial and industrial centers of the two states .
The meeting also exchanged views on the export and import of interaction, including supplies from Iran to Pakistan electricity and fertilizer, and imports to Iran of various Pakistani goods, including cotton. The parties also touched upon topics such as joint ventures for the production of building materials and textile products, as well as cooperation in the field of joint investment.
