Iran and Russia signed a contract for maintenance of NPP "Bushehr"
Almaty. March 2. Silkroadnews - Iran and Russia signed a service contract for maintenance of Iranian nuclear power plant "Bushehr", informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Monday.
"We have signed a long-term five-year service agreement with Iran and agreed that if Iran develops nuclear energy and to builds additional units, then we will be active participants in this activity. We signed a service contract for NPP "Bushehr" "- said Director General of "Rosenergoatom" Evgeny Romanov.
According to him, the new agreement provides the active participation of Russian experts in Iran's efforts to develop nuclear energy and the construction in the country additional capacity in this field.
Bushehr nuclear power plant has no analogues in the world. Its construction started in 1974 by the German concern Kraftwerk Union AG (Siemens/KWU). In 1980, the German government joined the US sanctions imposed against Iran, and construction was halted. In August 1992, the Government of the Russian Federation and Iran signed an agreement on the construction of nuclear power plants, and in January 1995 signed a contract for the completion of the first unit.
Russian experts managed the integration of Russian equipment in the construction part made by the German project, and applied about 12 thousand tons of German equipment. The first unit of "Bushehr" was connected to the national grid of Iran in September 2011. Putting into commercial operation is scheduled for 2015.
