Iran and Saudi Arabia have agreed on establishment of a committee on regional security
Almaty. March 18. Silkroadnews - Tehran welcomed the agreement in Riyadh to establish bilateral cooperation to maintain security and stability in the Middle East, transmits the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Wednesday.
As stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic of Iran to the Middle East and North Africa Amirabdullahiyan Hussein, Iran appreciates the willingness of Saudi Arabia to take part in direct negotiations with Iran on security and counter-terrorism.
According to him, recently reached agreement between Tehran and Riyadh on the formation of a joint committee on security will contribute to the campaign against terrorism and extremism, peace and security in the region, as well as the normalization of relations between the two states.
This statement was voiced by the Iranian diplomat during a meeting in the Omani capital, with the Foreign Minister of this country Yusuf bin Abdullah, who also stressed the importance of an open dialogue between Iran and Saudi for regional stability and development.
