Iran and South Africa agreed on further development of bilateral relations

Almaty. May 12. Silkroadnews - Iran and South Africa agreed to expand the mutually beneficial relations in various areas of bilateral cooperation, the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
The corresponding agreement on cooperation in economy, science and technology was signed during the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa Maite Nkoana-Mashabane to Tehran, where he also held the 13th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on political and trade and economic cooperation between the two states.
Delegations of the two countries also held a technical consultation on expanding and deepening cooperation in such fields as politics, economics, finance and banking sector, science and technology, agriculture, water management and public health.
In addition, during the visit the Foreign Minister of South Africa held separate talks with the President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, head of the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the speaker of the national parliament, Ali Larijani.
In particular, at a meeting with Nkoana-Mashabane head of state expressed satisfaction with the good level of cooperation between Iran and South Africa, indicating the presence of strong political will of the leadership of both countries to develop bilateral ties for the benefit of their peoples and national interests. H.Rouhani confirmed Tehran's readiness to do its best to ensure that Iran's economic relations with this African country is at the new stage of development.
In turn, the Foreign Minister of South Africa expressed particular gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for the tangible support provided to its country by the Islamic Republic in the years of apartheid in South Africa. It noted that in relations between the two countries today pressent all necessary prerequisites for further expansion and deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of bilateral relations.
