Iran and South Korea agreed to expand cooperation

Almaty. May 3. Silkroadnews – Iran and South Korea agreed at the intergovernmental level to expand all-round cooperation, IrTAG reports.

Following the talks in Tehran between the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani and South Korea’s president Park Geun-hye, the parties have agreed on cooperation in industry, finance, legal, scientific and cultural fields.
The parties agreed on joint oil and gas extraction projects, Iranian water resources projects, electricity sector and new sources to generate electricity, legal, inter-bank and customs cooperation, high-end technologies exchange.
Next year the parties intend to open their cultural centers in each other countries.

H. Rouhani said Iran and South Korea may triple the volume of their trade and economic contacts currently estimated at $6 billion.

Iran and South Korea signed 20 intergovernmental and interdepartmental memorandums on expanding cooperation in various fields. The parties also signed a bilateral memorandum on expanding the infrastructure of Iranian ports, documents on cooperation in the field of science and higher education, scientific and cultural exchange, cooperation in the field of health care and training of medical personnel.
