Iran and Tajikistan do not fully use of the existing economic potential - Iranian Foreign Ministry
Almaty. June 4. Silkroadnews - Tehran attaches strategic importance to the efforts made to maintain stability and security in Tajikistan. This was told by head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Mohammad Javad Zarif during a meeting with his Tajik counterpart Sirodjiddin Aslov on the sidelines of the conference on the security of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Moscow, reports IrTAG.
According to M.Zarif, Iran and Tajikistan have great potential for economic cooperation, which today is still not fully involved.
At the same time M.Zarif called for further expansion and deepening of multifaceted ties between Iran and Tajikistan, including the area of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. In this regard, he stressed the importance of mutual efforts to eliminate various administrative barriers and obstacles faced by Iranian companies in the implementation of its activities in the Central Asian republic.
In addition, the head of the Iranian diplomat said that Iran has always stood for the preservation of peace and national accord in Tajikistan, as both these countries and their brotherly peoples are linked by close ties, leaving its roots deep in history.
The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of bilateral relations, the current situation of security and stability in the region, as well as on common challenges the countries face today.
In this regard, Iranian Foreign Minister dwelled on the problem of the growing threat posed by the ideology of religious extremism and fundamentalism, including takfirist ideology of the group Islamic State, and its involvement in a growing number of young people from Muslim countries. He stressed the need for closer cooperation between the competent authorities of Iran and Tajikistan in matters of countering this threat.
