Iran and the EU plan to start negotiations on the supply of Iranian natural gas to Europe

Almaty. May 14. Silkroadnews - Iran and the European Union may soon begin negotiations on the supply of Iranian natural gas to markets in Europe, informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Thursday.
According to the deputy oil minister of Iran Hamid Reza Araki, this topic has been discussed with the representatives of some European companies during participation in the 20th International Exhibition "Oil, gas and petrochemical industry of Iran".
According to him, in the course of these discussions, it was stressed that a number of EU countries are ready to begin direct talks with Tehran on the issue of import of Iranian gas. But the place and time of negotiations is not mentioned.
In addition, H.Araki, who also directs the National Iranian Gas Company, said that currently his company is in talks with a group of foreign investors wishing to finance projects for the construction of gas pipelines in the country. He noted that they are at the preliminary stage, and it is early to talk about any arrangements.
Meanwhile, a source in the oil and gas industry of Iran said that the EU has already started "informal talks" with Iran on the supply of Iranian gas to European countries.
According to the report, some Caspian states also asked Iran to join the gas pipeline which is currently under construction. Through this pipeline natural gas from the region will be delivered to European consumers.
