Almaty. July 24. Silkroadnews – Iran announced the launch of a new missile production line, Middle East Monitor news portal reported.
“Iran announced the launch of a new missile production line. The Sayyad 3 missile can reach an altitude of 27 km (17 miles) and travel up to 120 km (75 miles), Iranian defense minister Hossein Dehghan said at a ceremony. The missile can target fighter planes, unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles and helicopters, Dehghan said”, the report reads.
The agency reminds, last week the US introduced new economic sanctions against Iran and stated that “Tehran’s “malign activities” in the Middle East undercut any “positive contributions” coming from a 2015 Iran nuclear accord”. These measures, as reported, demonstrated that the administration of Donald Trump is trying to put more pressure on Iran, while keeping in place the agreement between Tehran and the P5+1 to suppress Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for lifting of international oil and financial sanctions.
In turn, H. Dehghan said, the recent $110-billion deal on weapons sale between the US and Saudi Arabia, which was announced during D. Trump’s visit to Riyadh this May, was aimed at creating a direct threat to Iran. He also pointed out, “we recently witnessed an immense purchase that some countries in the region paid as a ransom to America and they intend to bring weapons into the region, and this purchase was done with the goal of threatening Islamic Iran”, the agency wrote.
