Iran became a member of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research

Almaty. September 22. Silkroadnews - Islamic Republic of Iran has become a full member of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research - SCAR), reports the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
Corresponding application of Tehran was approved at the 33rd meeting of the Committee, which was held from August 23 to September 3 this year in New Zealand Auckland.
As the president of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Researches of Iran Vahid Chegin, SCAR membership entitles the country to participate in research projects and studies conducted under the auspices of the international organization, as well as on the creation of a permanent research station on the southern continent of the planet Earth .
«SCAR plays a key role in developing an understanding of global issues related to the environment. Over the past 50 years, it provides an excellent opportunity for scientists to monitor environmental pollution and climate change by conducting research on the study of the origin of continents",- added the Iranian scientist.
