Almaty. July 18. Silkroadnews – Iran condemned Israel for closing the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports.
In particular, Press TV reported, having prevented the Friday prayers in this holy place the official Tel Aviv can get “the dangerous consequences”.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said this step by Israel runs counter to the “fundamental principles of human rights and humanitarian law”.
“In addition to all crimes and acts of aggression against and violations of the Palestinians’ basic rights, the Israeli regime has “targeted the religious freedom and rights of the Palestinian Muslims with a new alarming precedent, which will lead to dangerous consequences”, he has been quoted saying.
The spokesman called for re-opening of the mosque as soon as possible and urged all countries and international forums to put pressure on the Tel Aviv regime to compel it to observe the “least rights” of people in the occupied territories.
On Friday Israel shut down al-Aqsa Mosque after the deadly shooting in the Old City. Later though, after pressure raised by the Muslim countries, the occupation regime resumed operation of the mosque on Sunday afternoon.
