Almaty. May 4. Silkroadnews - Iranian Ambassador Abdullah Novruzi during a meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has offered to revive the pipeline project Nabucco, reports IrTAG quoting Russian media.
He said Iran "has the idea to create a gas distribution center in Bulgaria" through which Iran will supply natural gas to Europe.
Nabucco West project envisaged the construction of 1,300 km pipeline from the Caspian Shah Deniz-2 in Azerbaijan to Europe bypassing Russia through Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Austria. The project was designed for annual transportation of 31 billion cubic meters of gas, which will not exceed 5% of the EU's gas in 2020.
Initially, Iran would become a major gas supplier to the project, but in 2008 was expelled from it because of the problems associated with the nuclear program and the sanctions of Western countries.
