Almaty. October 12. Silkroadnews - Iran held talks with the EU on the second nuclear safety project, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reported referring to the Iran Daily newspaper.
“An Iranian delegation held talks with senior officials and nuclear security experts from the European Union on Tuesday in Brussels to discuss cooperation on enhancing the country’s nuclear safety,” the report said.
The talks, as reported, were held within the framework of the EU’s cooperation with the Iranian nuclear safety center in accordance with Annex 3 to the Iran’s nuclear agreement, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The two-day talks resulted in a document prepared for the second joint project of the EU and Iran to expand the technical capabilities of the Nuclear safety center of the Islamic Republic.
The EU delegation was headed by the Director of the EU nuclear safety unit Oliver Luyckx and the Iranian side was led by Hojjatollah Salehi, the director of Iran’s nuclear safety center.
As the publication reminds, “Back in July, Luyckx led a high-ranking EU delegation to Tehran to launch their first joint project aimed at strengthening bilateral nuclear safety cooperation. The 2.5-million-euro project was signed in April within the framework of the Iran’s nuclear deal as part of a five-million-euro package approved in 2016 with regard to Iran-EU cooperation on nuclear safety.”
