Almaty. November 5. Silkroadnews - Iran intends to double its natural gas production by 2017, even if Western sanctions against Tehran will not be lifted, the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
"Over the next three years we plan to increase gas production to 1 billion cubic meters per day",- said the Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company Hamid Rizo Araki.
At the same time he said, in the coming winter, the overall rate of extraction of natural gas in the country will increase from the current 550 cubic meters to 680 cubic meters per day.
The head of the national company noted that Iran daily supplies abroad about 30 million cubic meters of natural gas, mainly to Turkey. H.Araki also reported on the readiness of the Iranian companies to start supplying gas to neighboring Iraq.
It should be noted that according to bilateral agreements, Iran undertook to supply to Iraq of 25 million cubic meters of gas per day. However, in view of insufficient technical capacity of the gas infrastructure in Iraq, the supply of natural gas is planned to start with 7 million cubic meters per day.
