Iran opened International Conference and Exhibition in the field of medical tourism

Almaty. August 19. Silkroadnews - Romsar (northen Iran) opened first international exhibition and conference of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on the development of medical tourism, reports the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Tuesday.
The event, which will last three days, will be attended by officials of the Ministries of Health of Member States of 9 ECO members, World Tourism Organization, as well as officials from the United Nations Development Programme.
Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Sultonifar in his opening speech at the conference, described the tourism industry as a profitable business, which promotes cultural exchange and humanitarian cooperation between peoples.
According to him, today the scope of Iran's medical tourism is very popular among tourists from Central Asia and some countries in the Arab world.
Worth noting that in 2012, Iran was attended by around 200 thousand tourists in order to get treatment, which enabled the country to earn about $1.5 billion in the medical industry.
"Medical tourists" from abroad, mostly come to Iran for organ transplants, treating ophthalmic, orthopedic and dental diseases and ailments.
