Iran plans to increase exports of carpets to $400 million per year

Almaty. August 11. Silkroadnews - This year, Iran intends to increase exports of handmade carpets abroad for $400 million, the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Monday.
According to Acting Director of the National Carpet Center of Iran Hamid Karegara, weavers countries pledged to increase its revenue from the supply of Iranian handmade carpets to foreign markets to $400 million by the end of Iranian year (until March 20, 2015).
He noted that last year the export of this type of product from the Islamic republic amounted to about $314 million.
According to the Iranian authorities, in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (March-June 2014), the country exported about 1 thousand tons of handmade carpets in excess of $57 million, an increase of 23.7% in terms of volume of exports.
