Iran to launch the first operational satellite “Soha”
Almaty. May 30. Silkroadnews – Iran plans to launch the first operational satellite “Soha” in the next Iranian calendar year (to start on March 21, 2018), the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports with reference to the statement by the head of Iran Space Research Center Hassan Haddadpour.
The official also added that at present Iran has acquired the know-how on designing and building satellites domestically.
According to the head of the space research center, the satellite “Soha” will be launched to promote Iran Space Research Center as provided by the country’s 6th development plan.
H. Haddadpour said, “Soha” will be able to identify subjects with a resolution of 15m and operate at an altitude of 36 thousand km above the Earth.
Future plans of Iran, as he specified, includes launch of its telecommunications satellite “Doosti” (Friendship) into orbit by the end of the year to be then followed by “Nakhid-1” communications satellite.
