Almaty. October 19. Silkroadnews - Iran planned in early 2017 to deploy a missile defense system based on the country's air defense systems of its own design Bavar 373, which is an analogue of the Russian S-300, reported Trend
"We hope to test Bavar 373 systems until the end of the year (the current Iranian calendar year ends on March 19, 2016). And hope that the Bavar 373 system will be ready for deployment in March 2017", - said the commander of the air defense base "Khatam al-Anbiya", the Iranian Brigadier General Farzad Ismaili.
According to the Iranian military, Bavar 373 air defense missile system is a version of the Russian S-300, designed to intercept high-altitude targets, but it has greater mobility and less time to prepare for the launch.
Iranian media say, in this regard, Iran has designed and built its own analog of the S-300, after Russia refused to supply Iran these complexes under sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council. At the same time the media reminded that earlier this month Russia lifted the ban on the supply of these systems to Iran.
