Iranian gas delivery to Iraq will begin this May or June

Almaty. March 24. Silkroadnews - Iranian gas sales to Iraq will begin in May or June, Russian mass-media informs.
“Iran has completed construction of gas pipeline to the town of Naft Shahr on the border with Iraq. The pipeline will start gas delivery in May or June,”- the publication says referring to the Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company Hamid Reza Arago.

Iran will pipe to Iraq 7 million cubic meters of gas per day for nine months, after which the exports will gradually increase to reach 25 million cubic meters per day in two years, he said.

As reported, last November Iran and Iraq have signed a contract for the supply of Iranian gas. The gas fed from the South Pars gasfield in the Persian Gulf will be piped to generate electricity at three Iraqi power plants, Trend reports.
