Almaty. April 23. Silkroadnews - The terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) did not gain strength in Afghanistan, but coming from it threat of destabilization in Central Asia remains. This was stated by Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) Vitaly Burov, reported KazTAG.
V.Burov noted that since its official opening in 2004, the SCO RATS has evolved into an effective tool and platform for combining efforts, as well as practical cooperation between law enforcement professionals.
SCO member states are China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Observer status at the SCO are Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, the dialogue partners - Belarus, Sri Lanka and Turkey. Established in 2004, the SCO RATS based in Tashkent.
Conference "The fight against terrorism as a transnational threat: the experience of Uzbekistan and international practice" was organized by Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Office of the OSCE Project Coordinator in the country.
