Astana. April 18. Silkroadnews – “The issues of national language, of Russian language having an official status with equality of language development for all ethnic and cultural groups have been solved in Kazakhstan”, President Nazarbayev said at the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan in Astana.
“If all citizens could speak our National language, it would make equal in strengthening of our unity. The time will come when we will be even more equal. It will not matter which nationality, which ethnic background and whom to choose to head the government, whom to elect to lead the state”, the head of the state concluded.
He noticed that there have been many cases when countries were led by a non-native. “We know that ethnic Japanese was leading a Latin American country, Brazil had a Czech leader once”, he explained.
Nazarbayev said that “Kazakhstan has been following the same direction in regards to its language policy for the last quarter of the century. It gradually develops national language by starting with kids at schools, creating conditions for development of other ethnicity’s languages”.
“We are implementing the program that encourages trilingual culture. This is understood as a progressive aspiration of our nation all over the world”, he said.
As President Nazarbayev informed, Kazakhstan has 60 mass media outlets that operate using 15 different languages. It includes 14 newspapers. Theatres are operating using 6 different languages.
