Almaty. February, 15. Silkroadnews - It is offered to increase the amount of fine imposed for disobeying police in Kazakhstan, KazTAG reports.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Kalmukhanbet Kassymov, the draft law provides to increase the amount of fines to “strengthen the responsibility”.

“We have been assigned to strengthen the responsibility on the articles 379, 380, thus, for article 379 we increased the fines twice. Earlier the fine was equal to 100 times MCI and up to 45 days (of arrest – Silkroadnews), now it has been increased up to 200 times (MCI – Silkroadnews) and the arrest of up to 75 days”, he explained at the meeting of the lower house of parliament on Wednesday.

“Furthermore, we have added another point such as disobeying to the law enforcement bodies on the duty and while carrying out anti-terrorist operation or other activities. Meaning, we have strengthened responsibility here. Now we have increased the amount (for fine – Silkroadnews) twice up to 5000 times MCI. The fact is that Article 41 provides for such penalties (fines – Silkroadnews) from 500 times to 10 thousand times MCI. We have defined as 5000 times MCI”, the minister added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Majilis Nurlan Nigmatulin voiced dissent on the amount of the fine.

“We cannot agree with this amendment. (...) It cannot be accepted”, he said.

As reported in the conclusion by the steering committee of majilis, the draft law “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Kazakhstan on law-enforcement system improvement” enhances guarantees for the security forces in providing public security, increases penalties for violence and disobeying regarding the government representative under the emergency zone regulations and anti-terrorist operations, sets the liability for attempts of violence to life of officials of law enforcement and special government agencies and the military.
