Italy allocated $4.3 million for medical and social programs in Afghanistan

Almaty. November 15. Silkroadnews - On Tuesday, the Italian government allocated $4.3 million for health programs in Afghanistan, in particular, on measures to fight against poliomyelitis and program improving children nutrition, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
In particular, 52.5 million were provided to the World Health Organization and UNICEF to combat spreading of infectious disease dangerous for children.
By the end of last month, Afghanistan registered 7 new cases of poliomyelitis in its territory, to date, the number has increased to 9.
The funds allocated by Italy will be allocated to deliver vaccines, train health services employees and volunteers for vaccination campaigns to prevent new infections, and monitor and evaluate quality of vaccination programs.
The remaining $1.8 million have been allocated to UNICEF to promote nutrition programs for children from low-income families. The program will work in deprived provinces of the country and is aimed at supporting children under the age of 5, adolescent girls and mothers.
