Beijing. March 1. Silkroadnews - The capability of the Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army of China to win battles is significantly improved with the recent commission of China’s self-developed latest J-20 stealth fighter, the newspaper “People’s Daily” reported citing a military expert.
The J-20 fighter was officially brought into operation in September 2017, Wang Mingzhi, a professor at the Air Force Command College of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), said.
Wang noted, the fighter has strengthened China’s air force ability to cope with new security threats in the airspace.
The expert explained, as many countries, including Japan, South Korea and India, are intensifying their efforts to develop invisible fighters, it is absolutely necessary that China's air forces have the opportunity to withstand security threats in airspace. The J-20 fighter will play an important role in ensuring the security of China's airspace.
“In addition, the commissioning of the fighter jet signals that both the air force’s capability to win battles and its deterrence capacity have improved, as the J-20 stealth fighter is capable of detecting and launching attacks to destroy opponents preemptively,” the report reads.
Wang also stressed that China has overcome many difficulties in developing a fighter, because there was no past experience and there was no opportunity to borrow knowledge related to such advanced technology from the western countries.
Despite this and with limited financial resources, China has successfully developed a high-tech fighter J-20 in a shorter time than other countries, the expert said.
