Japan allocates more than $7.3 million for modernization of rural roads in Uzbekistan

Beijing. May 31. Silkroadnews - Japan will provide Uzbekistan with a-800 million Japanese yen (over $7.3 million) grant to upgrade roads, the Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports.
The documents in this regard within the framework of the economic and social development program have been signed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Nobuaki Ito and Chairman of the State Committee for Roads Abdurakhmon Abduvaliyev.
The major focus of the grant project will be done to the roads in rural areas of the country.
According to the Japanese Embassy in Uzbekistan, the project includes provision of road equipment by Japan’s leading small and medium-sized enterprises for Uzbekistan, which in turn will create a solid foundation for the development of the country’s infrastructure potential, as well as indirect and direct benefits to the whole country, including population of the Syrdarya, Jizzakh, Khorezm regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
